 TRANSCREATED AND TRANSLATED POEM:

 FOOTPRINTS OF TERRORISM

 explosion

clamour of accelerando

vicious move of unconscious- concious crescendo

disastrous dalliance of premeditated fortissimo??

sabotage of satanic fascism

  world's opera is savage suppression...

morality for triumph

culture for reconnaissance

who has an evil eye on my children???

harmonious blend of treachery and torpedo

fanatic politician's blind soprano

passionate shelling of uncontrolled greed

god knows wherefrom kasab has done this unpardonable deed!

altered the complete meaning of martyrdom

jumped from immortality to mortal celebration.

Ah zulfi!

your world is annihilation of shame and humility!!

echoes rejuvenate from deep caverns of kurukshetra

unheard mezzo-soprano tinkles in every curve of undemocratic- democratic sculptures

who is this my pal vibhishan

ruining his sibling-virulence

pious(?????)-pak has done impious gesture

embraced hostility instead of innocent roarer!

unprecedented glory was of zulfi's motherland

Jinnah you have broken-down our promising fatherland!

shame! shame! shame on you

O contractors of hellish paradise!

my burning query for greedy

hungry politics

thou mammons

lighted not you the pyre of unity-piety?

survival of zulfi in the monopoly of humiliation

how far can I tolerate this endless depreciation?

how will I curb this foppish pride

no help no support from my dearest bride

long labours of pain and grief-stricken scrimmages

who can restore the broken heaps of our images?

bards are today the slaves of politico-mammoths

how far they will sing songs of Shivaji-Afzal

come my love

let light the light of enlightenment

sacrifice ourselves for motherland on the day of judgement!

The use of new tools of Information and Communication Technologies(ICT) in trans-creation and  translation has been  successful and beneficial for translators to recreate and translate vernacular poetry. In every step of translation the significance of technology is seen and enjoyed in these days. The conventional barriers of translating vernacular poetry  has been removed by some of the latest technologies such as the web, internet, mobile devices such as Personal Digital Assistant (PDA’s), iPhone ,etc.  This research paper aims at sharing practical experiments with ICT in translating vernacular poetry into English. It would mainly deal with the pragmatic aspects of using new tools of  ICT while going through the strenuous process of translation. It would be discussed how the extensive use of synchronous and real-time communications could be practiced as translation tools. In addition with the above mentioned technology, this paper is to discuss the possible application of the latest trends in e-learning (in reference to translation of vernacular poetry into English which are mobile learning (iPod, cell phones, iPhone) blogs, e-mails, instant messenger, even social sites like Facebook, and applications like WhatsApp services as such.

STAGE-I

The  translation of the poem DAHSHTICHYA KHANAKUNA (original poem in  Marathi)i.e. FOOTPRINTS OF TERRORISM started with the recitation of the poem by the poet ,Zulfi. Her recitation of the poem was recorded with the help of web-cam.The recitation of the poem helped me to comprehend the nuances of the poem. The recitation was so impressive that it disclosed the hidden meaning between the lines. The stress on some particular words disclosed various shades of meaning. The audio and video recording helped me to know the poet and her poem. The sound of her voice expressed clearly the forceful protest of the poet. Thus it was the beginning to use the modern technology for translation.

STAGE II

The next step was to identify some prominent words of the poem and translate them into English.I took the help of traditional dictionaries, online dictionaries, and google translate to know the equivalent words and expressions. Some prominent online dictionaries are as follows:- marathi.changathi.com , www.shabdkosh.com, www.khandbahale.org, www.cfilt.iitb.ac.in/wordnet,etc.

STAGE III

The third step was to begin with the actual translation of the poem.I took the help of web links related to the vocabulary of music-vocabulary directly related to terror, terrorism, explosion, violence, annihilation, protest, etc. Some prominent links are:-

 www.sfcv.org, dictionary.onmusic.org,www.oxfordmusiconline.com, www.naxos.com,www.oxfordreference.com, www.alphadictionary.com,etc.

STAGE IV

The next step involved search of rhyming words.

www.rhymezone.com, wwwww.writeexpress.com,w.rhymer.com, www.merriam-webster.com,wikirhymer.com,etc.

STAGE V

The use of smartphones ,cell phones, social sites like facebook,orkut-applications like whats app ,instant messenger, email, skype, and  many other ICT tools helped me to translate the poem.
